The Return of the Thunder Child Veloce Guitar!

This has been one of my favorite guitar projects!

About a year ago I got some sad news from Travis Abbott, the guitarist of the fantastic Boise Idaho based Ealdor Bealu. His Thunder Child Veloce which was one of the first ones I’ve ever made with a Judean Desert Acacia top and some other rare features, was stolen while on tour with the band.

This was a sad moment for me because I became a huge fan of the band, and Travis is also a Frank Herbert/Dune fanatic just like me.

The Acacia for his guitar was brought from ancient salvaged pieces from the desert and it took a lot of time and effort to finish this special build.

I know what’s it like being a striving musician with all the havoc, the ups and down,s and the challenges, so, there and then I’ve decided to build a new Thunder Child Veloce.

It took a while but the Thunder Child was shipped two weeks ago to the trusty hands of Travis, and it’s an absolute joy to watch these guys perform.

Here’s a quote from Travis:

The Return of the Thunder Child ⚡️
In October of 2021, a custom guitar made by @tonerevivalguitars was stolen from me in Portland, OR while on tour with @ealdorbealu. Shortly after what was a truly devastating moment, luthier Dave Weizmann made a gesture that I will never forget: he offered to make me another Thunder Child Veloce at no additional cost. The offer made me break down in tears of joy – in a crucial moment where most of my thoughts were consumed by anger and sheer disappointment in humanity.
There are good people all around the globe, and Dave is one of the best. I will forever cherish this guitar, and I hope people who follow me will as well, as the music I create with it is not just for me, but for YOU as well.
I am grateful for the good people that music has brought into my life. And their input will always exceed the negative output of those who steal from us musicians and will continue to inspire me to keep going. 100% of the time.
Here’s to many more years of guitar playing. Love to all of you 🤟 🎸
