Sharing with you the charring process of the semi-hollow cedar bodies of our next batch of the Thunder Child Guitar including the new “Veloce” version.
This is a very delicate and nerve wrecking process. One mistake and the entire body will crack. I’ve seen some luthiers using this Japanese Shou Sugu Ban technique using a huge blowtorch, cracking everything and then using filler to fill the cracks.
It can be OK for a solid body -but for a hollow body, it will ruin the structure and the stability…
