The Speedster guitar is my solid-body model, the outcome of a three-year journey at the workshop. The result is a solid-body guitar with various types of coniferous wood, such as old salvaged red cedar, pine, Mediterranean Cypress, super lightweight Paulownia, and other super rare options. The design has an “S” style offset body with the large headstock of the late 40s Bigsby style. The guitar is equipped with my handmade “Stapletrons,” which underwent a year and a half of experimentation with vintage pickups and trial and error using different magnets, AWG wires, and even various base plates. These special humbuckers are closer to a wide-range humbucker with some special features, unique construction, and, as always, my bell-like tone. The extra clarity and warmth are great for both clean tones, while the extra higher frequencies are a great tonal palette for classic overdriven tones of the late ’60s and early ’70s.
